MIHEVE’S FLATS FLY
This is a brown shrimp like pattern with a weed guard that to my way of thinking is the best and most versatile fly I have ever fished. I would probably take it over any other fly, if I could have only one fly.

BAITED BREATH
This fly is very similar to the Miheve’s above except it is done with a heavier body and shows a weed guard.

MERKIN
This fly has been tied in several variations. I like it in a pale brown, dirty pink and pale olive. It has been very productive over the years with both a bead eye for tailing fish and a steel eye for fish in mid or deep water.

GOTCHA
I will never forget these were the words uttered last year by my second wife at our divorce trial. But Gotcha is also a great bone fish fly in both white and more muted tones of pink and brown. The white is really only good on white or sandy bottoms.

CHERNOBYL CRAB
The best deep-water fly I have ever used, Especially if all else fails. It is also a great combination fly if you have a chance of seeing the elusive Permit. It is a big hairy beast, which big bones can’t refuse.

CHARTREUSE CLOUSER
A great fly for bonefish when all else fails, especially on lighter bottoms. But, it is for sure the best ever fly for Mutton Snapper. They can’t refuse it. We have huge schools of Muttonfish with some tailing in the spring usually in the month of May.

CRAZY CHARLIE
The one shown here is in pink, but other colors of off white, brown, or green work well depending on the color of the bottom.

KWAN
This is my most recent addition to the list. It was recommended to me by Gary Merriman from the famous fly shop in Atlanta called the Fish Hawk. The Fish Hawk is the best-equipped salt-water shop east of the Mississippi. The Kwan looks a lot like a Merkin with a long tail. It is deadly.

DAVID BOWIE’S NOTHING SHRIMP
The last and perhaps the best of our selection, especially if what you are after is tailing fish. This wonderful lightweight shrimp imitation is the last word for casting to big fish in little or no water, where silent entry is mandatory.
